Dissertation: ESSAYS in Educational Attainment & Labor Outcomes

My dissertation explored the external complexities impacting educational attainment, ranging from parental wealth to educational institutions.

Chapter 1

The first chapter analyzes the effects of parental wealth on educational attainment in the presence of youth cycles. This chapter uses individual data on students/individuals and family data. The data is compiled from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics to explore whether parental wealth during childhood impacts educational attainment for the individual.

Chapter 2

Analyzes the effect of spousal education on labor outcomes for women using data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979. The estimation focuses primarily on the cross productivity hypotheses; the flow of human capital between mates.

Chapter 3

Difference in Difference estimation analyzes the academic achievement and efficacy of the schools in the Lake Wales Charter School System of Lake Wales, Florida. The analysis uses school level data on school characteristics from Lake Wales and surrounding cities, both before and after the implementation of the Lake Wales Charter System.
